Quick Guide

  • Who Can Enter: Children aged 7-18 years old.
  • Categories:
    • Ages 7-10
    • Ages 11-13
    • Ages 14-18
  • Word Count: 100-500 words, based on one of the Scribblebibble writing prompts which can be viewed here.
  • Submission Period: Annually: July 1st – January 31st.
  • How to Enter: Email a link to the student’s work posted on a school website or an adult’s social media to competition@scribblebibble.com.
  • Prizes: A $20 or £20 or €20 online voucher for each age group winner. (Other currencies may or may not be available).
  • Judging Criteria: Originality, imagination, language, and adherence to the prompt.

Competition Rules

  1. Eligibility:
    • Open to individuals aged 7-18 years as of January 1st of the competition year.
    • Not eligible: Anyone closely related to Scribblebibble staff or partners.
  2. Submission Rules:
    • Only one entry per person. Multiple entries will result in only the first being considered.
    • Entries must be the original work of the entrant, with no use of AI tools.
    • Stories must not include personal details, defamatory, offensive, or otherwise unsuitable content.
    • Entries must be written in English and adhere to the 100-500 word limit.
  3. Submission Process:
    • Entries must be submitted via email by a responsible adult (parent, teacher, or tutor).
    • Email must include a URL link to the student’s work hosted on a school website or adult’s social media. For example, the URL link can be a link to page with a photograph of the student’s work hosted on a school website or adult’s social media, or a link to the text of the student’s work hosted on a school website or adult’s social media.
    • Any student’s work attached directly to the email or submitted within the content of the email will not be accepted.
    • Entries must be submitted as links hosted on school websites or a responsible adult’s social media to ensure that schools and parents retain full privacy control over their children’s work. This method allows schools to celebrate their students’ achievements in a responsible and secure manner while promoting the competition in a way that respects privacy. By keeping the work within platforms managed by schools or parents, we ensure that the content is shared under their supervision and approval. Additionally, this approach helps generate a viral buzz about the competition, amplifying its reach and impact, while ensuring that the schools and parents remain in complete control of how the work is shared and showcased.
  4. Ownership and Permissions:
    • Entrants retain copyright. However, Scribblebibble holds a non-exclusive license to use submitted stories for competition administration, publishing, and teaching purposes.
  5. Judging and Prizes:
    • Entries will be judged on originality, imagination, language, and adherence to prompts.
    • Winners will receive an Amazon voucher via email.
  6. Disqualifications and Amendments:
    • Scribblebibble reserves the right to disqualify entries for non-compliance, fraud, or behavior bringing Scribblebibble into disrepute.
    • Rules may be amended, or the competition canceled if necessary.

Competition Age Categories

  1. Category 1: Ages 7-10 (as of January 1st).
  2. Category 2: Ages 11-13 (as of January 1st).
  3. Category 3: Ages 14-18 (as of January 1st).

How to Enter

  1. Choose a writing prompt from the Scribblebibble website.
  2. Write a 100-500 word piece of writing based on the chosen prompt.
  3. Publish the student’s writing as text or a photograph online via:
    • A school website (preferred).
    • A responsible adult’s social media.
  4. Send an email to competition@scribblebibble.com with:
    • The URL link to the student’s writing.
    • The Scribblebibble writing prompt used.
    • The age category of the entrant.
