Scribblebibble Writing Competition

Quick Guide

• Who Can Enter: Children aged 7-18 years old.
• Categories:
  • Ages 7-10
  • Ages 11-13
  • Ages 14-18
• Word Count: 200-500 words, based on one of the Scribblebibble writing prompts which can be viewed here.
• Submission Period: Annually: February 1st – June 30th.
• How to Enter: Email a link to the student’s work posted on a school website or an adult’s social media to competition@scribblebibble.com.
• Prizes: A $20 or £20 or €20 online voucher for each age group winner. (Other currencies may or may not be available).
• Judging Criteria: Originality, imagination, language, and adherence to the prompt.

Competition Rules

1. Eligibility:
   • Open to individuals aged 7-18 years as of January 1st of the competition year.
   • Not eligible: Anyone closely related to Scribblebibble staff or partners.
2. Submission Rules:
   • Only one entry per person. Multiple entries will result in only the first being considered.
   • Entries must be the original work of the entrant, with no use of AI tools.
   • Stories must not include personal details, defamatory, offensive, or otherwise unsuitable content.
   • Entries must be written in English and adhere to the 200-500 word limit.
3. Submission Process:
   • Entries must be submitted via email by a responsible adult (parent, teacher, or tutor).
   • Email must include the student’s competition entry pasted as plain text into the body of the email.
4. Ownership and Permissions:
   • Entrants retain copyright. However, Scribblebibble holds a non-exclusive license to use submitted stories for competition administration, publishing, and teaching purposes.
5. Judging and Prizes:
   • Entries will be judged on originality, imagination, language, and adherence to prompts.
   • Winners will receive an Amazon voucher via email.
6. Disqualifications and Amendments:
   • Scribblebibble reserves the right to disqualify entries for non-compliance, fraud, or behavior bringing Scribblebibble into disrepute.
   • Rules may be amended, or the competition canceled if necessary.

Competition Age Categories

1. Category 1: Ages 7-10 (as of January 1st).
2. Category 2: Ages 11-13 (as of January 1st).
3. Category 3: Ages 14-18 (as of January 1st).

How to Enter

1. Choose a writing prompt from the Scribblebibble website.
2. Write a 200-500 word piece of writing based on the chosen prompt.
3. Send an email to competition@scribblebibble.com with:
   • The student’s entry cut and pasted as text into the email. (For security reasons, we cannot accept attachments).
   • The Scribblebibble writing prompt used.
   • The age category of the entrant.

Terms and Conditions

1. Parental Consent: The responsible adult submitting the entry must obtain all necessary permissions and provide evidence if requested.
2. Originality: Stories must be entirely original, not based on real-life events or living persons.
3. Technical Issues: Scribblebibble is not responsible for technical problems preventing submission.
4. Judging Decisions: All decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection process.
5. Publication and Use: Scribblebibble may feature or link to winning stories for up to five years and reserves the right to use submitted work for promotional, educational, or research purposes.
